Ontario Summer
Ontario, this summer’s for you!
There really is no place like home. We're happy to announce that our calendar this summer is filled with exciting Ontario dates. We can’t wait to pack the Dala-mobile, layer on the SPF 50, and hit the road in our beautiful home province.
We’ll be making stops in Parry Sound, Hamilton (Artsfest), Orillia (Mariposa Folk Festival), and Haliburton. ( TOUR )
I have so missed trekking northbound on our provincial highways, and being mesmerized by the ever-deepening forest and the rugged cuts of rock. Parry Sound and Haliburton, I’m looking at you. Bring on the jack pine sunsets and the swimming.
Hamilton, it seems like everyone I know or am related to has moved to you. I can’t wait to reunite with all of them at our Westdale Theatre show in June. Artsfest here we come!
And Mariposa, what can I say, except that you live like an eternal golden summer in my heart. You were the first festival we ever played. It was the winter of 2005 and Amanda, myself, and our stalwart manager Mike drove through a snowstorm to perform at the Mariposa open auditions. To be selected to play at the festival that summer would change everything for us.
Over the years we have been lucky enough to return to Mariposa, each time affording us new musical inspiration. We've had the chance to hear artists like Danny Michel, Feist, Loudon Wainwright III, Stephen Fearing and Gordon Lightfoot work their magic. It really doesn’t get any better.
This summer will be our 5th time appearing at the festival. On top of performing over the weekend, we’ll also be serving as MCs on the main stage on the Friday. What an honour!
Amanda and I love our road trips. We somehow never run out of things to talk about, and even when we do, we pass the hours singing harmony with our favourite playlists.
Here’s to a summer filled with everything we've been missing. Hope to see you on the road.
